Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid full driving licence relevant to the vehicle category is required, held for the duration noted in the Rental Agreement. You must also present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our East Midlands location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle collection. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely processed through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed to document this assessment. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns could result in extra charges, so inform us promptly if a delay is anticipated. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, plus an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Information
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive details on coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for further coverage. Any damages resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Prohibited uses of the vehicle include any illegal activities, such as racing or off-roading, and transporting hazardous materials. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, exceeding passenger limits or driving outside designated geographical areas without prior consent is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law in the East Midlands, Car Hire will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for any loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
